Jordan Spieth was back in Dallas as the host for the 11th annual Under Armour / Jordan Spieth Championship. The junior golf event brought 78 talented boys and girls from across the globe to compete in the American Junior Golf Association tournament at Brookhaven Country Club, Jordan’s home course growing up “playing hundreds of rounds”! The tournament kicked off with Jordan providing the juniors with lunch from the Popstroke food truck, and chatting with players warming up on the range prior to their practice rounds. Jordan also shared his insights and reflected on his memories both at Brookhaven, with unique perspective to their journeys as a former AJGA participant himself. There was an intimate Q&A session open to all participants as the players made their way to start times, surprised with more tee gifts along the way: Under Armour kits, shoes, travel packs, custom Titleist ProV1 and more.
On the course, Jordan kicked off tournament week by hitting the ceremonial first shot and went on to surprise groups by making appearances for competitions. Fun was had with Spieth participating in closest to the pin, putting, and chipping challenges with the amateur golfers. The end of week crowned two first time AJGA winners: boys champion Reese Roberts (Dallas, TX) and girls champion Dresden Bounds (San Antonio, TX).
Junior golf is one of Jordan’s four mission pillars within the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation, and we are proud to lend time, energy and funds to the AJGA who’s mission it to promote the growth and development of young men and women through competitive junior golf.
